Kampala:  Thousands of Ugandans on Sunday converged at Kololo Independence Grounds to participate in the 52nd birthday run of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, in a vibrant display of public mobilisation and support for the annual charity event.

Held under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope,” the event drew a diverse crowd including government officials, security personnel, youth groups, and members of the public. Many participants arrived in the early morning hours, turning the venue into a sea of runners clad in branded kits and national colours.

Organised by the Patriotic League of Uganda, the run is part of a series of activities marking Gen. Muhoozi’s birthday, with proceeds directed towards supporting vulnerable children and disadvantaged communities across the country.

In the lead-up to the event, organisers carried out nationwide mobilisation efforts, positioning the run as both a fitness initiative and a platform for civic engagement. The strong turnout underscored its growing prominence on Uganda’s public events calendar.

Gen. Muhoozi, who served as the chief runner, joined participants on the course, further energising the crowd in an event that blended charity, patriotism, and mass participation.

Authorities had earlier issued traffic advisories around Kololo to manage the large crowds and ensure smooth flow of activities in the capital.

The birthday run continues to evolve into one of Uganda’s most visible public gatherings, reflecting both its charitable mission and its expanding national appeal.
