MBARARA CITY YOUTH RUN: HON MWINE TUMWEBAZE PRAISES PRESIDENT M7 AS A CHAMPION OF THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS,CAUTION YOUTH TO STOP LIVING DANGEROUSLY

MBARARA CITY: Yesterday Morning, a large number of youth from all corners of Uganda headed by Hon Tumwebaze Mwine Kirimi, Youth MP Western Region gathered in Mbarara City at Independence Park to participate in Mbarara City Youth Run. The purpose of the run was to encourage safe menstrual practices for girls and boost youth leadership in the fight to end HIV/AIDS. 

 

 

 

Since HIV prevalence in Mbarara City is estimated between 8.1% and 10%, which remains significantly higher than Uganda’s national average of roughly 5.1%, the organizers of the events decided to give the run of this a theme “Together for Safe Periods and an HIV-Free Society.”

 

 

Among the youth leaders at the national level that managed to participate in the run included; Youth MP for Central Region Hon Sam Begira, National Female Youth MP Hon Kanyesigye Mercy , Youth MP Eastern Region Dr. Wanyama Judas Thadeo and fellow National Youth Council leaders. 

 

Speaking to the media after the run, Hon Tumwebaze Mwine said that he decided to participate in the run with his fellow youth MPs to encourage youth both in mbarara city and other communities to regularly go for HIV testing and know his position. “Please my fellow youth go for HIV testing. Its better to known whether your HIV positive or Negative. If you test and find out that your negative, please always take serious measures to remain negative and if by bad luck you test and find yourself positive, visit Health Centers with HIV treatment so that you keep your body strong and have a long life” Hon Mwine said.

 

Furthermore, Hon Tumwebaze Mwine said that the he is ready to push the run so that it continues taking place annually, since youth use it as a campaigning platform to advocate for free HIV society . On the issue of menstrual periods in youth especially those in schools, Hon Tumwebaze Mwine requested parents and guardians to always help their children with menstrual pads. He went on and said that its really heartbreaking to find a young girl missing school when she is in menstrual periods just because of lacking menstrual pads. In their capacity as Youth leaders and organizers, they decided to donate reusable menstrual pads. Such sanitary pads can be washed and kept for another. In fact, such menstrual pads saves money since one who uses them doesn’t face the problem of monthly purchasing. As a youth leader, I beg my fellow youth to always consider and follow the guidance from their parents, guardians and teachers. On the other hand, I also beseech youth in schools to always report sexual habits and temptations fronted by their administrators, guardians and other sinful people intending to destroy their future.

 

 

 

Towards his conclusive remarks, Hon Tumwebaze Mwine said that the next phase coming is HIV awareness community outreaches to Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Higher institutions and Gheto areas. Its better to find youth in their schools and have serious open discussions. I will not say it once, twice or thrice but I will always request youth especially those in schools to abstain.

 

Lastly, Hon Mwine thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni for the tremendous work done in the fight of HIV in our country Uganda. Honestly, the President has supported all needs required to see Ugandans living in a community free from HIV virus. Surely my fellow should know that the President and First Lady have a merciful heart for the Bazzukulu.

 

On the same cause of HIV awareness in youth, Hon Kanyesigye Mercy requested Parents, guardians and School administrators to team up together and put much effort on educating the youth the dangers of acquiring HIV at youth age. Hon. Mercy went on and advised the youth to take their lives as fragile substances because good thing are still come. She also cautioned the youth to abstain and wait for real time to enjoy. Currently, many people are sick but look healthy. There my fellow youth do go down by the look of healthy body. Please test before going for enjoyment if you fail to abstain.

 

 

 

While making her ending remarks, Hon Kanyesigye Mercy begged people living with HIV to have a merciful heart and avoid spreading it to their fellow colleagues intentionally. She ended requesting people living with HIV to use condoms whenever they are going to have sex in order to stop the transmission of virus to your girlfriends and boyfriends.

 

 

 

Asante Times also encourages Youth community to read the Bible and see what says on matters concerning Physical life. Because when you read the Bible in the book of 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, Apostle Paul teaches that a Christian’s body belongs to God and is a temple of the Holy Spirit and in the same book 1 Corinthians 6:18 says, Apostle Paul says Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. On a serious note, Apostle Paul uses the word “flee” (or run), showing that people should completely remove themselves from sexual temptation rather than test their limits or stay near.
