BREAKING: U.S. Embassy in Juba Ends Routine Visa Services for South Sudanese

JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN — August 12, 2026: The United States has ended routine U.S. visa processing at its Embassy in Juba, with South Sudanese applicants now directed to regional processing centres.

 

Under the new arrangement, Kampala, Uganda has been designated as the processing location for South Sudanese seeking routine U.S. visas. The changes took effect on August 1, 2026.

 

South Sudanese applicants seeking routine visas will therefore need to travel to Uganda to complete the required process, including visa interviews where applicable.

 

The move is part of a broader restructuring of U.S. visa operations across Africa, reportedly affecting 25 diplomatic posts.

 

According to the U.S. government, the regional approach is intended to strengthen security screening, standardize visa adjudication and improve the efficiency of consular services.

 

The change means South Sudanese applicants will now face additional travel and logistical requirements when applying for routine U.S. visas.
