Casemiro is The Best Midfielder At The World Cup-Roy Keane

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has praised Casemiro’s performance against Japan, insisting the Brazilian midfielder continues to prove his value despite growing discussions about his age.

 

Speaking after Brazil’s match, Keane highlighted Casemiro’s leadership, intensity and goal threat, describing the midfielder as one of the best in the world when attacking crosses into the box.

 

“Casemiro is a great player and he showed that again today against Japan,” Keane said.

 

“Even though Japan made it difficult for Brazil, at his age he still plays with incredible intensity and was still able to score.”

 

Keane also compared Casemiro’s heading ability to Cristiano Ronaldo, suggesting the midfielder developed that side of his game during their years together at Real Madrid and Manchester United.

 

“After Cristiano Ronaldo, Casemiro is probably one of the best headers of the ball in world football,” he explained.

 

“He most definitely learned a bit of that from Ronaldo.”

 

The former United midfielder admitted he believes Casemiro’s departure from Old Trafford will leave a major gap in the squad because of the experience and authority he brought to the team.

 

“Him leaving Manchester United is a shame,” Keane added.

 

“I can’t really say the club got it wrong, but his goal threat, presence, and leadership will definitely be missed.”

 

Keane also defended older players in modern football, arguing that mentality and intelligence remain more important than age alone at the top level.

 

“People talk too much about age in football now,” he said.

 

“What matters is mentality, discipline, and intelligence, and Casemiro has all three.”

 

“Players like him bring balance to a team, especially in big tournaments where experience and composure can decide matches.”
