Human Trafficking:Don Chris remanded over 127 counts of allegedly conning job seekers

Kampala, September 2, 2026

Socialite Christian Asiimwe, popularly known as Don Chris, has been remanded to Luzira Prison after he was charged with 127 counts of obtaining money by false pretence from people seeking jobs abroad.

Don Chris appeared before City Hall Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon, where the charges were read to him by Magistrate Nicholas Aisu.

Prosecution alleges that between 2022 and 2025, Don Chris received millions of shillings from hundreds of job seekers after falsely claiming that he could secure them employment in foreign countries.

Among the destinations he allegedly promised were Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar and Dubai.

The 127 charges are contained in seven separate charge sheets, with each sheet listing about 20 complainants who allegedly paid money for the promised employment opportunities.

According to the prosecution, the complainants were led to believe that Don Chris had the ability to facilitate their recruitment and placement in jobs abroad.

Don Chris was recently arrested in Zzana and is a former director of Sky Pins, a labour recruitment company that has since ceased operations.

The accused was remanded to Luzira Prison after the charges were read in court.

He is expected to return to City Hall Magistrates Court on September 21 for mention of the case.

The charges are allegations that have not yet been proved in court. Don Chris is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
