Marriott International has officially entered Uganda’s hospitality market.

The global hotel giant has opened the dual-branded Kampala Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments Kampala in Nsambya, marking the first time the Marriott Hotels and Marriott Executive Apartments brands have entered the country.

 

The property combines 181 hotel rooms and suites with 96 serviced apartments, targeting business executives, diplomats, consultants, project teams, relocating families and leisure travelers.

 

The development also features six restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness center, heated pool and 1,293 square meters of event space, including a ballroom that can host up to 1,000 guests.

 

For Marriott, the Kampala opening is more than a new hotel. It is a bet on Uganda’s growing business, tourism and MICE markets and another step in the company’s expansion across Africa.

 

Marriott had more than 10,000 properties across 148 countries and territories as of June 30, 2026.
