Mutolere SC Lead Western Region Rise as Four Clubs Secure FUFA Big League Promotion

Mbarara, Uganda – Mutolere SC, popularly known as the Volcanoes, headlined a strong showing from the Western Region after securing promotion to the 2026/27 FUFA Big League season alongside Buwambo United, Amus FC and Packwach Young Stars.

 

The four clubs sealed qualification through the FUFA Big League Promotion Play-Offs, earning places in Uganda's second-tier football competition next season.

 

Mutolere SC's promotion is being celebrated as a major milestone for football development in Western Uganda, reflecting the growing competitiveness of clubs from the region. Their success adds to the increasing presence of Western Region teams on the national football stage and highlights the impact of sustained investment in grassroots talent and club structures.

 

Speaking after the achievement, Mr Mutaka Sseka, Chairman of the Western Region Football Associations, praised the clubs for their determination and commitment.

 

"The qualification of Mutolere SC and the continued progress of our clubs is proof that football in the Western Region is growing steadily. We congratulate Mutolere SC and all the promoted teams, and we remain committed to developing the game from the grassroots to the national level," said Sseka.

 

The promotion of Mutolere SC is expected to inspire more clubs across Western Uganda as the region continues to establish itself as one of the country's emerging football powerhouses.
