Ankole Province’s FUFA Drum campaign suffered a setback after a 2–1 defeat to Lango Province in a hard-fought encounter played at Kakyeka Stadium. Goals from Kigozi and Aliro were enough to seal victory for the visitors, sinking the Ankole side despite a determined performance on home turf.
Lango started the match with purpose and were rewarded when Kigozi broke the deadlock, capitalizing on a moment of hesitation in the Ankole defense to give his side an early lead. The goal unsettled the hosts, who struggled to contain Lango’s energetic midfield and quick transitions.
Ankole responded with increased pressure and eventually found a way back into the contest, pulling a goal back to level matters and ignite the home crowd. However, just as Ankole began to grow in confidence, Lango struck again. Aliro restored Lango’s advantage with a well-taken finish, putting the visitors back in control.
Despite late efforts from Ankole to salvage a point, Lango remained composed and defended resolutely to see out the match. The 2–1 victory strengthens Lango Province’s position in the FUFA Drum competition, while Ankole are left to reflect on missed opportunities as they look ahead to their next fixture.
