Asante Times Investigation

David Greenhalgh, the British businessman once famous in Uganda for his high-profile romance with socialite Bad Black, has been convicted in the UK over a major international arms trafficking scheme.

A London court found the 68-year-old guilty on 10 counts of illegally brokering military equipment to countries under international arms embargoes.

 Prosecutors said the deals involved:

  • 100,000 AK-47 rifles
  • Combat helicopter gunships
  • Surface-to-air missile sysystems
  •  Battle tanks and other military hardware

The intended destinations reportedly included South Sudan, Sudan, Libya, Iraq and Iran.

Authorities say Greenhalgh and his co-accused discussed forged documents, fake end-user certificates and other methods to evade UK export controls.

πŸ“… Sentencing is scheduled for July 22, 2026, at Southwark Crown Court in London.

A man once known in Uganda's celebrity circles now finds himself at the centre of one of the UK's most significant arms-brokering convictions.
