The body of Magambo Timothy, the son of Uganda Police Force Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) Director Tom Magambo, has been returned to Uganda following his tragic death by drowning in the United States last week.

Family spokesperson Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi announced on Tuesday that Timothy's remains arrived in the country at around 2:00 a.m., marking the beginning of funeral arrangements that will culminate in his burial in Masindi District.

A requiem Mass is scheduled to be held at Mbuya Catholic Parish in Kampala before the body is transported to Kisarabwire Village in Masindi Municipality, where relatives, friends, and mourners are expected to gather for an overnight vigil at the family home.

According to the burial programme, Timothy will be laid to rest on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Kisarabwire, located approximately two kilometres from Masindi Municipality.

The death of Timothy has attracted widespread sympathy from members of the security fraternity, government officials, religious leaders, and members of the public, many of whom have conveyed messages of condolence to the Magambo family. The tragedy has also reignited conversations about the dangers associated with water-related recreational activities and accidents involving Ugandans living abroad.

While details surrounding the circumstances of the drowning have remained limited, the incident has left family members and friends mourning the loss of a young life cut short far from home. The return of Timothy's remains to Uganda now allows relatives and loved ones an opportunity to pay their final respects.

Tom Magambo, one of Uganda's most prominent senior police officers, has served in several high-profile investigative and anti-corruption roles over the years and currently heads the Criminal Investigations Directorate. During his public service career, he has led investigations into some of the country's most significant criminal cases.

As preparations for the burial continue, messages of comfort and solidarity have continued to pour in for the bereaved family. In his statement, Balaam Ateenyi thanked all those who have stood with the family during the difficult period and requested continued prayers for strength and healing.

The family drew inspiration from Psalm 34:18, which states: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
