Uganda Freedom Front Launches Civic Movement Focused on Youth and Governance Reform

WAKISO DISTRICT, Uganda — A new civic pressure group, the Uganda Freedom Front (UFF), has been launched in central Uganda, positioning itself as a non-electoral movement dedicated to civic education, youth empowerment, and constitutional awareness.

The organisation was formally unveiled during a press briefing held on June 8, 2026, in Katale, Wakiso District, where it also announced the establishment of its interim national secretariat in Ssumba, Wakiso District.

UFF leaders said the movement will not participate in electoral politics or support candidates for public office. Instead, it will function as an independent civic platform focused on advocacy, public awareness, and policy engagement.

Interim Leadership

The Uganda Freedom Front announced its interim leadership team as follows:

Interim Chairman — Ggumisiriza Isaac

Secretary General — Ndagishe Aliyi

Deputy Spokesperson — Ssenyonga Davis

Speaking at the launch, Secretary General Ndagishe Aliyi said the movement aims to strengthen civic participation and promote economic empowerment among young people.

He added that remaining non-electoral would allow the organisation to focus on long-term governance and development issues without the constraints of partisan political competition.

Core Programmes

The movement outlined three main programme areas:

The first focuses on digital skills development and youth economic inclusion, aimed at preparing young Ugandans for opportunities in the digital economy.

The second focuses on constitutional literacy and civic education, designed to improve public understanding of governance structures and civic rights.

The third focuses on non-electoral advocacy, through which the group plans to engage institutions and policymakers on issues of public interest.

Future Plans

UFF said it intends to roll out regional coordination structures across Uganda in the coming months and work closely with civil society groups, community leaders, and youth networks.

The organisation described its launch as the beginning of a sustained civic engagement effort aimed at addressing governance and socio-economic challenges outside electoral politics.
