Yesterday 6th August 2026, Members of FRONASA Veterans Association Uganda Mbarara Chapter headed by the Afande Matovu Vianney Ngoma, National Political Commissar FRONASA and Afande Stephen Kanamanya, Chairperson FRONASA Mbarara Chapter held a FRONASA fellowship at Agip Hotel Mbarara. For smooth and thorough accountability in their Association, it has been noted that members meet on every first Thursday of the month.
The meeting conducted at Agip Hotel Mbarara was also attended by the staff members of Mbarara City RCC’s office from both two Divisions that forms the City. The RCC Madam Catherine Hellen Kamwine didn’t attend in person but instead she was represented by the two assistants from both Division South Division and North Division.
In his opening remarks, the Chairperson of FRONASA Chapter Mbarara, Afande Kanamanya Stephen thanked the Almighty for loving them since He has managed to give them the gift of life till to-date. He also asked the Almighty to continue giving a Joyous eternal life to all deceased FRONASA members. He went on and thanked the Almighty for protecting the head of State, H.E Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from bad health.
Additionally, Afande Kanamanya appealed the FRONASA members to reamain on the cause and agenda of their Association despite of challenges like limited finances and other operation resources required by a serious active Association. He requested the members of FRONASA to focus on small scale business in their homes such as beehive keeping, Poultry keeping and vegetable growing if they are to survive poverty.
Afande Tinako, a senior member of FRONASA and Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) from Isingiro District also beseeched fellow members to embrace PDM program. In his speech, Afande Tinako said; “ As we wait for our Kasiimo of Ugx5 million per individual promised by the President, let us apply for PDM”. He also advised members of the meeting to see youth skilling as a great measure to fight unemployment in Uganda. He thanked President Museveni for investing in Industrial Skilling Hubs.
Another FRONASA member, this time a woman called Miriam Mutashwera advised fellow members to spread the history of FRONASA to their family members so that when they leave earthly life, children can be able to continue with the works of FRONASA. Miriam Mutashwera is one of the Ugandans that shared a house with the family of President Museveni in Tanzania, in 1970s when Ugandans had left because of terrorist Amin Dada .
In a soft voice, the assistant RCC of Mbarara City South assured the FRONASA members full time support whenever needed. The Asst RCC thanked FRONASA members for spearheading the war that championed the liberation cause of this Nation Uganda. Surely you laid a historical foundation stone when it comes to the matter of Liberation of Uganda from bad and poor leadership of Amin and Obote.
As the Chief guest of the fellowship, Afande Matovu Vianney Ngoma begun requesting all members to stand up and give a silent of moment to their beloved comrade Afande Apollo Mabaati who recently ascended to heaven. Afande Apollo was the FRONASA National Chairperson and the founder of FRONASA Veterans Association Uganda.
In his speech, Afande Matovu Vianney Ngoma who serves as the FRONASA National Political Commissar requested all members of FRONASA to always stay united and focused like as they were when they were fighting Amin. Afande Matovu informed members that the Association cant develop when members are not united. We must build togetherness in our capacity. If we can get seriously organized, we can develop a single voice and demand what was promised to us by the President.
Honestly to tell you member, I am now serious and I am ready to be your voice whenever I am approached.
First, I am going to be your voice in spearheading changes in they way how medals are rewarded. You must join me and push for medal reforms. Medals given to FRONASA Veterans should have a price tag. Foristance, the price tag of Kagera Medal should at least be Ugx10 millions so that whoever receives it goes back home with a business startup capital. Frankly, we are all aging and we deserve a notable thankful handshake.
On the matter of peace, security and stability of Uganda, Afande Matovu thanked Gen Museveni for keeping Uganda boarders safe from intruders with bad elements of causing uncertainty in our Country. However, Afande Matovu Vianney Ngoma cautioned Uganda Police to always act and operate under the rule of law. It’s embarrassing to see things that happen in both Amin Dada and Milton Obote governments happening now. Police should be smart in arresting citizens because once citizens start fearing police and taking it as destroyer of rule of law, government faces strange challenges in fighting crime.
Afande Matovu requested Uganda Police to start operating with LCs as it was when NRA captured power in 1986. This time I am happy because some of FRONASA members have successfully been elected on various Local Council committees. I therefore take this opportunity to congratulate all FRONASA Veterans who contested and managed win. Please comrades, lead people politely and diligently. Be humble in in offices and don’t use LC stamp as a tool or source of income.
Furthermore, Afande Matovu Vianney Ngoma beseeched the Members and agreed to join hands together and safeguard the history of FRONASA. First of all, himself the President is the original founder of FRONASA and as well as his young brother Gen Salim Saleh. Therefore, we can approach them for help. This time as president Museveni said that this is Kisanja no sleep, we must also fight hard to hunt resources for our Association .
Lastly in his speech, Afande appealed to the government of Uganda especially the office of the presidency to safeguard environment and wildlife. The coming generations needs a better environment and its we to prepare it for them. Honestly, I took time myself sometime back and appealed to Maj. Jesca AluIo, Vice President of Uganda to carry out a serious operation to protect our National bird (Crested Crane) in areas of Nakivale-Isingiro District but even up now I have never received any reply.
If we don’t protect Crested Cranes in Nakivale, a section of refugees are likely to finish them since they feed on them.
At the end of the meeting, members who have tremendously served the Association received certificates of application from the FRONASA National Political Commissar.
A luta continua.
