A Christmas Message to the Workers of Uganda

from Counsel Kamukama David

“Aspirant MP - Workers, 2026–2031”, The Legal Medicine for Workers' Problems!

At this sacred hour when the world pauses to commemorate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, I extend warm Christmas greetings to the indefatigable workers of Uganda; the builders of our economy, the custodians of our productivity, and the silent architects of national progress.

Christmas is not merely a celebration of divine nativity; it is a solemn reminder of dignity, justice, and hope for humanity values that must find practical expression in the life of every worker.

Scripture reminds us of piercing clarity: “The labourer deserves his wages” (Luke 10:7). This is not only a biblical truth; it is a moral, legal, and social imperative. A society that exploits its workers undermines its own conscience and mortgages its future.

As one known and committed to being the Legal Medicine for Workers’ Problems, I remain steadfast in the conviction that labour is not charity; it is a right governed by justice, fairness, and the rule of law. Workers deserve safe conditions, fair remuneration, social security, and a voice in the policies that shape their lives. These are not privileges; they are entitlements anchored in law, equity, and human dignity.

The birth of Christ in a manger speaks profoundly to the worker’s story, humility without humiliation, toil without despair, and hope amid adversity. It compels us to build a Uganda where the worker is protected, respected, and empowered; where labour laws are not ornamental texts but living instruments of justice; and where Parliament becomes a true sanctuary for the cause of labour.

As we look to 2026–2031, let this Christmas renew our collective resolve to champion workers’ rights with courage, intellect, and compassion. I remain unwavering in my commitment to translate legal scholarship into legislative protection, advocacy into policy, and hope into enforceable rights.

May this Christmas season restore strength to every weary hand, dignity to every honest effort, and faith to every worker’s dream. And may the coming year usher in justice that works, laws that heal, and leadership that serves.

Merry Christmas, and may the peace of Christ born for all, especially the lowly and the labouring, abide with you and your families.
