The Mbarara City Derby lived up to its billing as Asante Sports Club  defeated rivals Mbarara FC in a thrilling encounter at Jovoc Grounds, a match that showcased the growing intensity and quality of football in the FUFA Western Region Football League (WRFL).

 

The clash drew a vibrant crowd, with fans treated to a fiery contest as the “Giants of Ankole” went head-to-head. Asante SC, popularly known as the Black Bulls, displayed resilience and tactical discipline to edge their rivals in a game that had moments of brilliance and high tempo throughout.

 

Skonto, Allan and Zaga emerged as the heroes of the day, finding the back of the net for Asante SC and sending their supporters into wild celebrations. Their clinical finishing proved decisive in a derby that could have gone either way, as both sides created multiple chances under the electric atmosphere at Jovoc Grounds.

 

Coming into the match, the Black Bulls were clearly motivated. Under the stewardship of Coach Fostine and Coach Gorolla, Asante SC looked well-drilled and upbeat, showing determination and hunger from the first whistle to the last. Meanwhile, Gorilla Highlands SC fell at Mashaka Grounds in Kisoro, losing to an in-form Rwampara Bulls side that continues to impress with consistent performances. Rwampara’s momentum is quickly making them one of the standout teams to watch this season.
