Morocco Defeats Comoros In An Emphatic AFCON 2025 Opener

In the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations, hosts Morocco defeated Comoros 2-0 with second-half goals to start the tournament with a win.

Morocco and Comoros met in the opening match of the African Cup of Nations. Although the hosts were in control of the game, neither team could find the goal they were looking for in the first half. The first 45 minutes of the match ended in a goalless draw.

 

Morocco, who started the second half more effectively, found the goal they were looking for in the 55th minute with Brahim Diaz and took a 1-0 lead. The hosts kept up the pressure after the goal and increased the difference to two with Ayub El Kabi's goal in the 74th minute. There were no more goals in the remaining minutes and Morocco left the field with a 2-0 victory over Comoros.
