Kenya Airways Ceases Operations In Cameroon

Kenya Airways has stopped all its flights in and out of Douala according to a statement signed by the airline’s Cameroon and Gabon country representative.

In the statement dated June 12, YVONNE BETEYE VIOUNGA NINGA explained that the ending of Kenyan Airways flights into Cameroon’s busiest airport will begin June 19 and was “guided by a strategic effort to optimize our route network and improve overall operational efficiency”.

The statement further states that “The airline has made all the necessary plans to protect our passengers who were booked and ticketed on our flights after 19th June 2026. If you have confirmed tickets/bookings after this date, please reach out to us and we will facilitate a refund. Any ticket changes/bookings must be done by 31st August 2026”, adding that “Kenya Airways is working with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth suspension of our services with minimal impact to all stakeholders”.

A few years prior, Kenyan Airways had stopped flights into Nsimalen Airport in Yaounde and the closure of its Douala route brings a complete end to all its flights in Cameroon. This means a a further reduction in the number of airlines flying into Cameroon, creating a vacuum to be filled by the few airlines that remain in operation.
