Rwampara District has emerged as one of the key strongholds for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the recently concluded presidential elections, securing 94.8% of the total votes cast in the area.
The results place Rwampara among the top ten districts nationwide with the highest support for the incumbent president.
According to the Electoral Commission, districts in the Ankole sub-region dominated the list of highest percentages, with Kiruhura leading at 99.72%, followed closely by Kazo at 99.71%, and Kamwenge at 98.63%. Rwampara’s strong showing underscores the continued loyalty of voters in western Uganda.
Speaking on the outcome, Eng. Jarc Tusiime, a member of the Ankole Mobilization Team, attributed the success to the president’s focus on development projects and community engagement.
“Rwampara people know that leadership is about delivery. President Museveni has invested in Programs like PDM,roads, schools, and healthcare in the region. Our work as the mobilization team has been to ensure that people appreciate and know the achievements of NRM ” Tusiime said.
He added that some local leaders and community organizers played a key role in ensuring voters understood the president’s achievements too. “We engaged with every village, every parish, making sure the message of development reached every household. This is why Rwampara has shown such strong support,” he explained.
Political analysts say the overwhelming support in districts like Rwampara reinforces Museveni’s dominance in certain regions, although pockets of competition remain elsewhere in the country. Still, Ankole districts such as Rwampara demonstrate the enduring appeal of the ruling party’s policies among rural communities.
With a voter turnout reflecting strong engagement, Rwampara joins Kiruhura, Kazo, and Kamwenge as some of the president’s most loyal districts. The results also highlight the effectiveness of local mobilization strategies that may serve as a model for future campaigns.
While opposition groups continue to scrutinize the official tally, in Rwampara, the electorate’s message appears clear: support for President Museveni remains overwhelming.
