Ssenkaali Joseph: Ugandan promoter building entertainment links between Kampala and Dubai
What you need to know:
Ssenkaali Joseph, 27, is a Ugandan entertainment promoter and entrepreneur known for organising music promotion activities and diaspora entertainment events linking Uganda to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
KAMPALA — Ugandan entertainment promoter Ssenkaali Joseph has emerged as one of the young entertainment entrepreneurs involved in promoting Ugandan music within diaspora communities in the Middle East, particularly in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Born in Lukaya Town Council in Kalungu District, Joseph attended Kamuwunga Primary School before later joining Mpeera Secondary School in Kalungu. His upbringing in Greater Masaka exposed him to Uganda’s local entertainment culture at an early age, something that later shaped his interest in music promotion and event organisation.
Joseph is the founder and chief executive officer of Ssenkaali Promotions, an entertainment company involved in artiste promotion, music distribution and event management. Through the company, he has worked with upcoming Ugandan artistes and participated in entertainment campaigns targeting East African audiences living abroad.
His activities have largely focused on building entertainment connections between Kampala and Dubai, where Ugandan music events have increasingly attracted diaspora audiences over the past few years.
In 2024, Joseph founded The Showing Awards, an entertainment awards event organised in Uganda and Dubai. The awards recognise musicians, entertainers and entrepreneurs while also serving as a networking platform for artistes, promoters and members of the Ugandan diaspora community.
Besides organising events, Joseph maintains an active online presence through digital platforms where he promotes Ugandan music and entertainment content. His social media activities have contributed to the visibility of some Ugandan artistes among audiences outside East Africa.
His rise reflects a broader trend within Uganda’s entertainment industry where promoters are increasingly using digital platforms and diaspora-based events to expand markets for local artistes beyond the country’s borders.
Entertainment analysts say diaspora entertainment events in cities such as Dubai have become important spaces for Ugandan musicians seeking international exposure, business partnerships and performance opportunities.
Joseph continues to divide his activities between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates as promoters and artistes explore new markets for East African entertainment within global diaspora communities.
