Mamdani makes it official — ICE is not welcome in New York City

Mamdani signed an executive order barring Imimigration and Customs Management [ICE] and federal agents from entering any city-owned property — schools, shelters, hospitals, parking lots — without a judicial warrant signed by an actual judge. Not an "administrative warrant" that agents sign themselves. A real warrant. From a real court.

The order also prohibits city agencies from sharing New Yorkers' personal data with federal immigration authorities and requires training for city workers on how to respond when ICE shows up — and when they can legally say no.

He also printed 30,000 Know Your Rights guides in 10 languages — Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Bangla, Russian, Yiddish, and more — and handed them directly to faith leaders to distribute to their congregations. To everyone. Citizens included.

While the Trump administration is sending masked agents to raid homes, workplaces, and courthouses without warrants — and DHS is offering local police departments up to $195 per detainee per day to cooperate — Mamdani drew a line.

This is what it looks like when a mayor actually governs for the people he represents.
